Another Haboob - Buckeye, Arizona
Drove to a friends place on the westside for dinner tonight and got caught in another wicked dust storm. This time I had a camera, though. Wasn't far enough away to show scale, but it was pretty decent-sized. Still no rain, however. Maybe tomorrow... Going to try and shoot lightning this summer. Lived here for 4 years and have never tried photographing lightning during the summer monsoon.

Bourbon Street - New Orleans, LA
Had the opportunity to fly to the Big Easy for the weekend (more like 36 hours) to help friend and fellow photographer, Jason Millstein, shoot a wedding at The Roosevelt New Orleans. We didn't have much time, but I did manage to snap a few photographs in the French Quarter. Bourbon Street was off the hook, and it wasn't even Mardi Gras! Fun times.

Playing Around at the Mesa Arts Center
My friend, co-worker and all around cool guy, Nathan Smiddy and I headed over to Mesa Arts Center earlier this afternoon to shoot a fashion show for a local high school class. But before the kids arrived we got to play around in the museum with the 35mm f1.4L. These are the results. Great portrait lens. Do want.

The Merten's Family Shoot
Took some time the other day to head over to Estrella Foothills to take some family photos for my good friends, Ben and Jill. The three of us went to college together back in Minnesota and now, amazingly enough, we all live in the desert. Something about Minnesota makes this place feel exotic, I guess.
We started out at a local landmark and walking path before finishing up at a nearby park. The landscape is really beautiful and I wish I could work out there more often.
Ben and Jill's shorty, Jacob, was a good sport, too. But after a half hour his camera curiosities were spent and it was time to improvise. Still, we had a fun shoot and their Christmas card this year should turn out great!

Just Karen
Spent a couple of hours with my good friend, Karen, the other day up in the beautiful Vistancia area in Peoria, Arizona. Fun times.
I've known Karen since high school but, incredibly, this is our first photo shoot together. Needless to say, we had a blast and she got some new Facebook photos in the process. Thanks, Karen. Let's do it again, sometime.
